This Privacy Policy describes how and when I collect, use, and share information when you purchase an item from me, contact me, or otherwise use my services through Etsy.com or its related sites and services.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of third parties that are not owned or controlled by me, including Etsy and any third-party services you access through Etsy. Nathan should now explain what information he collects from his buyers, why he needs the information, how he uses it to fulfill orders, what third parties he shares the information with, and how long he stores the information. Here is an example:

What information I collect

In order for me to process your order, you must provide me with certain information (which you have authorized Etsy to provide to me). This includes your name, email address, mailing address, payment information and details about the product you are ordering. You also have the option to provide me with additional personal information (for example, for a custom jewelry order) if you contact me directly.

2. which legal bases it uses to collect, use and disclose personal data
The GDPR requires you to explain the legal bases you use to collect, use and disclose personal data. The legal bases may include a buyer's explicit consent to receive marketing messages, compliance with legal obligations, and use of the personal data for the seller's legitimate interests (for example, improving services). Throughout its privacy policy, Nathan should describe as clearly as possible where and why it is relying on these different legal bases. For example:

The GDPR requires you to explain in detail what personal data you share with third parties, if any. Nathan should explain to its buyers why, when and to whom it may share their personal data. For example:

Sharing and disclosing information

Customer data is important to my business. I only share your personal information for specific reasons and in very specific circumstances, as follows:

Etsy. I share information with Etsy as necessary to fulfill my obligations under Etsy's Seller Policy and Terms of Service.
Service Providers: I use certain trusted third parties to perform tasks and provide services for my store, such as parcel delivery services. I share your personal data with these third party service providers, but only to the extent necessary to perform these services.
Business transfers: If I sell my business or merge with another, I may disclose your information as part of that transaction, to the extent permitted by law.

The GDPR requires you to disclose how long you store personal data. Nathan should consider how long he needs to keep information for business purposes and to comply with legal and tax obligations. He should bear in mind that data should not be kept for longer than necessary. For example:

I will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to provide you with my services and as described in my Privacy Policy. However, I may need to retain this information to comply with legal obligations and regulations, resolve disputes and enforce my agreements. In general, I keep your data for the following period: 4 years.

5. if it transfers personal data to countries outside Europe: how this transfer is carried out
The GDPR requires you to disclose when you transfer personal data outside the EU and what legal bases you use for this, such as consent and contractual necessity. Nathan uses Google Cloud, a solution certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield. Therefore, he should explain to his buyers that he uses the EU-US Privacy Shield as a legal basis for transferring their personal data outside the EU. For example:

Transfer of personal data outside the EU

I may store and process your information through third-party hosting services in the US and other countries. Therefore, I may transfer your personal data to countries whose laws on data protection and regulatory oversight differ from the corresponding laws in your country. If it is likely that I will transfer information about you to countries outside the EU, I will rely on the EU-US Privacy Shield as the legal basis for the transfer as Google Cloud is certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield.

6. what rights its buyers have regarding its use of their personal data and their contact details
As required by the GDPR, Nathan should finally explain to his customers their rights regarding the information they provide to him on Etsy. Nathan should also provide his contact details and explain to his buyers that he is the data controller of their personal data. For example:

Your rights

Access: You may have the right to access and obtain a copy of the personal data I hold about you by writing to me using the contact information below.
